Compared to other mobile network providers in the UK iD Mobile is very young as it was only launched in 2015 so it is the new kid on the block. iD Mobile has to piggy back of another network so it uses Three as their network provider.

Which mobile network do iD Mobile use

iD Mobile is a MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) which means that they must rely on another mobile network provider to carry out their coverage. iD Mobile uses Three network and this means that iD Mobile customers will receive the same coverage as Three customers.

The fact that iD Mobile is using Three's network is good news for iD Mobile customers because Three is among the top four mobile network providers next to Vodafone, O2 and EE. Therefore, iD Mobile chose the right mobile network to piggy back off.

Three has already acquire 5G data technology and although iD Mobile does offer 5G I believe in 2020 iD Mobile will get 5G. Some more great news for iD Mobile customers so 2020 is a big year for iD Mobile.

iD Mobile coverage, speeds and frequencies

4G coverage iD Mobile

The iD Mobile 4G coverage covers 99.8% in the UK and iD Mobile 3G has 98.7% coverage in the UK. For iD Mobile customers you will be pleased to see that 4G iD Mobile covers has the most coverage which means you will have the best data technology iD Mobile has to offer.

Because iD Mobile is linked with Three network the coverage will be exactly the same so it is good to know how much 4G and 3G coverage iD Mobile has in the UK.

iD Mobile Speed and frequencies

iD Mobile coverage is pretty good compared to other mobile network providers in the UK and the speed and frequencies also do a good job compared to other mobile network providers.

EE has faster 4G download and upload speed however, iD Mobile coverage with a speed upload of 21.6/7.4Mbps is faster than Vodafone and O2. Vodafone speed = 25.1/7.8Mbps and O2 speed = 16.9/5.7Mbps which shoes that iD Mobile does well for a MVNO carrier.

5G iD Mobile coverage

Three has already offered 5G coverage to towns in the UK such as London, Glasgow, Cardiff and Manchester and many other towns. This is a good sign for iD Mobile because if Three is already well on its way with 5G then it is only a matter of time for iD Mobile to have 5G.

All in all, iD Mobile network offers a great 4G coverage in the UK and with speed that is faster than Vodafone and O2 this makes iD Mobile network a good mobile network provider.

With Three becoming more popular with 5G this means iD Mobile will hopefully have 5G technology sometime in 2020.

How can I check coverage & network status from iD Mobile

The iD Mobile coverage map checker is important for iD Mobile customers to check regularly because it gives a clear display of what areas have coverage in the UK.

Not only does the iD Mobile coverage checker show areas that coverage but what areas have no coverage.

Therefore, if you have no signal it is a good idea to check the iD Mobile coverage map as it can show if the area you are in has no coverage. The iD Mobile coverage checker also shows indoor and outdoor areas with strong and weak signal.

The best part about the iD Mobile coverage checker is that it is updated every 30Minutes so most of the information that is displayed is pretty accurate. This coverage shows both 4G and 3G iD Mobile network.

Coverage problems

However, it is important to understand that there are some problems that will cause you to experience weak signal or no service. These problems are out of iD Mobiles control and can only fixed by changing your location.

For example, if the weather is bad and there is heavy train it might cause you mobile signal to be really weak or if you are in a building with thick walls or underground there is a good chance you can experience no service at all.

Being in crowded places or have huge obstructions such as trees can make the signal really slow and occasionally no service. These are easy fixes as you can just change locations and hopefully find some signal.

The iD Mobile coverage map is important because you can check to see what areas have the best coverage such as 4G iD Mobile and understand that there are some problems that can effect the iD Mobile signal.
