It has fierce competition in the UK from the likes of BT, Netflix, and Virgin. But Sky TV remains a contender, because it delivers quality TV, internet and mobile services in combinations that work for you. Let’s look at current Sky TV and broadband deals, including those with mobile, to see whether you can achieve maximum connectivity and entertainment for minimum cost and hassle.

How much is a Sky TV and Broadband package?

For all Sky TV and broadband packages, Sky notes that prices can change at any time. So, if you see a deal you love the look of, you might want to grab it while you can. Some deals are for existing customers, but many are designed to attract new customers. Current packages range in cost from £27 to £67 monthly, and set up fees also vary from package to package, so let’s take a more detailed look.

Sky TV + Broadband packages

All the packages described are said to have average speeds of 59 megabits per second. You’d think this might vary depending on a number of factors including household set up and simultaneous usage. But Sky’s Speed Guarantee says you get the speed they promised, or your money back, as standard. These prices are all per month and for eighteen months, but might change during the period.

Sky TV + Broadband + phone deals

There is less of a range of deals if you want to include phone service with your Sky TV and broadband deal, but such deals do exist and may make your life simpler. For example, the current deal according to Sky’s own website as of late 2020 includes:

  • Unlimited broadband
  • Free UK calls 24/7
  • A Sky+ box through which you can record, pause, and rewind freeview channel programming

This costs £26 a month including line rental on an eighteen-month contract, the price being guaranteed for three full years, plus a £25 set-up fee upfront. It does not of course include any channels beyond freeview at that price. All other Sky mobile deals at the time of writing relate to mobiles only, with no TV or broadband elements.

Sky TV packages with other companies

Although Sky has some good TV and broadband deals, the monthly costs can add up quickly if premium sports and film channels are added to basic packages, let alone pay-per-view events like boxing matches or new release films, which must be bought separately through the company's ‘box office’. It’s worth remembering, then, that you can also access Sky channels through other providers.

For example, look at BT’s premium offering called the VIP package. At a hefty £65 per month, a 24-month contract, and a setup fee of £29.99 upfront, you might balk. But it includes:

  • Complete access to BT’s Big Sport and Big Entertainment packages
  • NOW TV including Sky Atlantic, Sky One, all eleven Sky Sports channels, all Sky cinema channels, and more
  • Full High Definition (HD) channels from BT and NOW TV, including Sky Sports and Sky Atlantic in HD

There are also less expensive packages from BT with a tighter sports or cinema focus. All packages come with broadband and landline rental.

Or take Virgin Media TV plus broadband deals. Their Bigger Bundle, Bigger Bundle + Movies, and Ultimate Oomph Bundle packages include all the premium Sky channels except for Sky Atlantic.

You may find it easier to go directly to Sky for all your Sky channel needs when shopping for the best Sky TV and broadband packages. But also remember that with other providers the Sky is not the limit.
