What you need to know before travelling
Depending on where you travel to, as soon as you land in your holiday destination customers will receive a text about roaming charges and, in some cases, may be required to have credit in their account.

What countries can't I roam to in the EU?
Unfortunately, there are some countries that are included in the European Zone but do not offer Giffgaff roaming. These countries are labelled as the Rest of Word rates.
Below is the list of countries in Europe that don't offer Giffgaff roaming:
Albania, Andorra, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus (North), Faroe Islands, Greenland, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
Can I roam to Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey or Switzerland?
When roaming to these countries, customers will get what is called a Preferential Rate that allows them to receive calls and texts for free. However, calling will be 15p/min, 5p/text and 20p/MB.
Can I roam to the USA?
The rates for roaming to the USA are below and do not apply to anyone travelling to Hawaii and Alaska:
- Data – 20p per MB
- Calls & Voicemail (charged in per second increments after first 30 seconds) - £1 per minute
- Receiving calls (charged in per minute increments) - £1 per minute
- Sending Texts – 30p per text
- Receiving texts – Free
- Picture messages (MMS) to a UK/EU mobile – 30p per MMS
- Picture messages (MMS) to any other mobile – 24p per MMS
How do I roam outside the EU?
Customers should go to the Giffgaff official website roaming page to check the rates for the country they want to visit. In the web page there is a list of destinations that clients can select and get the rates for.
There will be a list of rates for calls, texts and data usage for every country outside the EU and most destinations offer a different rate.
What happens if Giffgaff roaming stops working?
