Now TV Router Review
The NowTV Router rivals the Sky Q hub with all of its features. Consumers may be attracted to NowTV for its alternative lower prices to the big providers, and its contemporary offerings. Is the NowTV router up to scratch?
What are the Router specs?,
With NOW Broadband you can choose from two mid-level fibre broadband speeds, which are 36Mbps or 63Mbps. If you do not need fibre, you can go for the cheapest option of 11Mbps ADSL broadband. All customers are provided with the same NOW Hub 2 router, which is basically a Sky Q Hub under the NowTV name brand. Let’s see what it has to offer:
- Next generation wifi – Devices can connect using older wifi standards or with the newer 802.11ac wifi standard
- Smart channel selection – The NOW Broadband router automatically connects your devices to the fastest wifi channel, and frequency that is available.
- Dual band – Like many modern routers, the NOW Hub 2 uses both the 2.4Ghz and faster 5Ghz bands
- Two gigabit ethernet ports – It has two gigabit ethernet ports for fast, wired network connections to your computers. It is worth mentioning that many routers provided by other broadband companies have four ethernet ports.
- Five antennae – Five internal antennae beam wifi around your home. Many modern routers have seven or more antennae, so wifi range and quality may be comparatively worse than you get from other routers
- Broadband Buddy – This app, which is also available from Sky, gives you access to parental controls for individual devices and a host of other features
How can I set up my router?
If you already have a router, you will need to unplug it and also remove the microfilter from the phone socket. Locate the new microfilter which came with your new router and plug it into your wall mounted telephone socket. Now, take the grey cable and plug it into the microfilter, then plug the other end into the NOW Hub 2 router.
Switch off the mains plug socket, then plug the power supply into your new router. Plug the router’s power supply into the mains wall socket. Now switch on the power socket, then switch on the power button on the router. Once it has started-up and all three LED lights are the same colour, you can connect your devices to your new wifi network. Your wifi log-in details are on the underside of the router, there is also a card provided with the details printed on it.
How can I reset my router?
If you can’t login to your router because of a forgotten password or key, you may need to reset it.
Since the software on the router is reset to factory defaults, a hard reset removes all customizations, including passwords, usernames, security keys, port forwarding settings, and custom DNS servers. Hard resets do not remove or revert the currently-installed version of router firmware, so don’t worry about that.
Follow these steps for a hard factory reset:
- With the router powered on, turn it to the side that has the Reset button. The Reset button is either on the back or the bottom.
- With something small and pointed, like a paperclip, hold down the Reset button for 30 seconds.
- Release the Reset button and wait 30 seconds for the router to fully reset and power back on.
Can I get a replacement router?
You may be able to get a replacement router if your current NowTV Router is faulty, defective or damaged. Contact the NowTV customer service on their online live chat or ring 03303 323 050.
