What does Origin offer?
Origin offers three simple plans in 12 or 18 month contracts:
|Name||Speed||Price *Upfront||Contract||Description||Monthly price (18 month contract)|
|Origin Broadband||11Mbps||£223.99||12 months||
|Origin Superfast||36 Mbps||£239.99||12 months||
|Origin Max Fibre||67 Mbps||£269.99||12 months||
If you want to pay monthly for any of these deals, you will need an 18 month contract. This is handy for those who like to see exactly how much they are paying monthly, and gauge whether they want to continue their contract at the end of the 18 month minimum contract length.
Which is the best deal for me?
It really depends on your situation. If you are a small household in a town or city, the standard ADSL package will be perfect for watching some Netflix, sending emails and browsing the internet. If your house is a little busier, with gamers, streamers and Netflix bingers using the internet all day, it is definitely worth investing in a fibre package. The Origin Max Fibre deal is an unprecedented deal in terms of what it offers for a mere £27.99 a month. The powerful hub performs at lightning speeds, meaning no more complaints from anyone in the house!
Origin is an Openreach-based provider, just like BT and Sky. Therefore, the coverage is pretty similar to the rest of these providers, which is good news if you are living in an area that is fairly well connected. Origin are too small to be covered by Ofcom, but generally Openreach providers will get good customer service regarding connection issues and network shortages.
Origin keeps it simple with three different average download speeds to choose from:11Mb (standard ADSL), 36Mb or 67Mb (fibre). Each speed corresponds to a different package, which is on a sliding scale in terms of price and speed.
