EE wifi calling makes it easy to make calls in places in the UK where the EE mobile network may be poor. This article will explain what EE wifi calling is, how to turn it on and how to fix problems with EE wifi calling.

What is EE wifi calling?

Wifi calls allow you to text even when there is no phone signal. Connect your phone to a wifi network and use it normally. It means that you can now make and receive calls from even more locations.

How does EE wifi calling work?

There is no need to install any software or plug anything. When you see the wifi Call indicator in the top left corner of your screen, call, text, or send picture messages as usual.

Moving away from wifi coverage

If you're on the move while making a call, our 4G Calling phones will seamlessly switch to 4G as you move out of wifi range and vice versa, allowing your call to continue. If your phone doesn't support 4G Calling or you don't have 4G coverage, your call will drop as you move out of wifi range, and you'll need to call again once you're back in range.

Remembering the wifi network

When you connect to a wifi network, the service will connect automatically the next time you use it. As a result, you only need to connect once at home. If you use public wifi, you may have to reconnect every time.

Using wifi to Call 999

You can contact the emergency services by dialling 999, but they cannot locate you. As a result, you should make these calls using a landline phone and only use wifi Calling as a last resort. You should never rely solely on wifi Calling to contact 999.

How to turn on wifi calling on EE

To set up wifi calling

1. Ensure you've got the latest software installed.
2. Connect your device to your wifi.
3. Head to settings
4. Switch on wifi Calling.

Wifi calling is not working on EE.

I have a compatible device, but there is no wifi Calling option in my menu.

You may need to update the software on your phone to the most recent version. Check EE's instructions page for details on how to do this for your phone.

My device is WiFi-enabled, but I don't see the wifi Call indicator.

Suppose your wifi signal isn't strong enough or has insufficient capacity to support a voice call. In that case, your phone will not display the wifi Call indicator - this can happen on active connections.

If you have a problem at home, it could be a problem with your internet connection. Check to see if you can connect to the internet using your phone or other devices.

I'm having poor call quality when using wifi Calling.

We recommend a connection speed of 1mbps when using wifi Calling. If you're still having issues, your broadband service may lack sufficient bandwidth to support wifi Calling. Your broadband connection may be limited.

Alternatively, you could push the bandwidth to its limit by streaming movies or engaging in other activities. Congestion or low bandwidth may affect call quality if you use public wifi. To access the wifi, you should ensure that you are properly logged in, as not all public wifi hot spots will keep you logged in. If your connection remains poor, we recommend that you turn off wifi.

I can't use wifi call abroad.

Unfortunately, wifi Calling is not currently available outside of the United Kingdom.

When connected to wifi Calling, I am unable to change my settings for Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, or Withhold Number.

You can't use these three services if you're using wifi Calling and don't have a mobile signal. A simple tip is to set them up ahead of time, and they will function normally. Even if network coverage is available, you cannot deactivate Call Forwarding while using wifi Calling.

EE wifi calling: compatible phones

Wifi Calling is supported on all iPhone 5c and later models, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, S7, S7 edge, A3 (2017), A5 (2017), Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Lumia 550, 650, 950, 950XL, HTC 10, BlackBerry Priv, BlackBerry Dtek 50, Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, Huawei P10, P10 Lite, P10 Plus, and Huawei P8 Lite (2017).

It is only available on the EE version of all other compatible Android and Windows devices, which you can purchase directly from EE in one of their stores, online, or over the phone. Other Android and Windows devices bought from other retailers will not be able to support wifi Calling.

Is EE wifi calling free?

When you use wifi Calling, your regular bill is unaffected. Calls and texts are deducted from your monthly allowance. If you exceed your allowances, you will be charged at standard rates.
