More info

Does Virgin Media recycle my kit?

Virgin Media recycles your kit, but they won't do it for you. You'll need to send your equipment back on your own. Virgin Media recycling will recycle any of its old equipment, including hubs, cables, TV boxes and other equipment, but only if you return it to them. You can't just throw it away.

How and where to recycle your kit from Virgin Media

The first step to recycling your Virgin Media kit is to request a Virgin Media recycle kit from the company. The company will send you a shipping box with compartments for device accessories and a return letter.

The Virgin Media recycle kit can be ordered using one of two methods. The Virgin Media website is the first option. Your bank account, name, email address, mobile number, and delivery address are among the information you must provide.

The other approach is to email Virgin Media and ask for a Virgin Media recycle kit. Contact equipmentreturns@virginmedia.co.uk using your email. Include your address, account number, area code, and any pertinent information in your message.

Shipping the Virgin Media recycle kit to the address takes seven to ten days.

The following are the steps to take to return your Virgin Media kit:

If you are swapping your old equipment:

You would be sent a branded box with your new equipment in it.

  1. Empty your new equipment from the branded box.
  2. Place the old kit in the tray your new box came with.
  3. Place all the other bits, like the remote control or cable, in the smaller compartments.
  4. Close the lids and secure the box with the red clips the box came with.
  5. Peel off the sticker that came with the return letter and place it over the original address label.
  6. Find the nearest drop-off point on CollectPlus and drop off your equipment.

If you are leaving or downgrading:

Here you would be sent a Virgin Media recycle mail returns bag or Virgin Media recycle plain return box, depending on the type of equipment you are returning.

If you have been sent the mail returns bag:

  1. Place your WiFi hub or TV box in the bubble bag and seal it.
  2. Put the bubble bag into the bigger mailbag.
  3. Gather all the extra bits of equipment like cable and put them inside the bigger bag.
  4. Seal off the mailbag.
  5. Peel off the sticker that came with the return letter and place it on the mailbag.
  6. Find the nearest drop-off point on CollectPlus and drop off your equipment.

If you have been sent the plain flat box (this comes with various compartments like a tension film card, a cardboard flat, a mail bag and a bubble bag):

  1. Place your TV box under the film in the tension film card, and fold the tension flaps down to tighten the film.
  2. Slide the now folded tension film card with the TV box into the outer box.
  3. You can repeat this process if you return more than one TV box.
  4. Place the WiFi hub into the bubble bag.
  5. Place the TV box and the bubble bag into the bigger mailbag.
  6. Gather the smaller equipment like remote control or cable, place them all in the mailbag, and seal them off.
  7. Peel off the sticker that came with the return letter and place it on the mailbag.
  8. Find the nearest drop-off point on CollectPlus and drop off your equipment.
