Virgin Media voicemail: settings and how to access it
Virgin Media Voicemail is a service provided for customers to ensure they do not miss any of their messages. In this article, we will explore what Virgin Media's Voicemail is for, how to access your Virgin Media voicemail, how to turn on or off your Virgin Media voicemail and other Virgin Media voicemail settings available.

What is the Virgin Media voicemail for?
Virgin Media Voicemail is a service offered by Virgin to all mobile customers. In other words, as long as you have subscribed to a mobile service, you can enjoy voicemail features on your line. Voicemail ensures that your callers can leave a message when they cannot speak to you immediately.
How does Voicemail work?
Voicemail works as a way to deliver messages to customers when they have missed a call. With Voicemail, your service provider helps record messages on their system. It works because Virgin Media picks up your call when you are unavailable to pick up the phone at that moment. Your caller is then given the option of recording a voice note or voice message, which is called a voicemail for you. Whenever you are ready, you can play back the stored Voicemail to get the message left for you.
How to access your Virgin Media voicemail
Generally, your voicemail feature should automatically activate once you get on a mobile plan with Virgin Media. However, this is only sometimes the case. You can access Voicemail from your account or by contacting Virgin Media if you have subscribed to a mobile plan and Voicemail is not automatically activated.
If you are still unable to activate Voicemail, do the following:
- First, dial 222 from your mobile
- Let the full message play
- Wait for twenty (20) minutes
- Turn off your mobile phone
- Turn on your mobile phone
- You should notice that your Voicemail is activated
Please call Virgin Media on 222 toll-free if the Voicemail is still not activated.
How to turn on or off your Virgin Media voicemail
As a Virgin Media customer, you can keep your voicemail feature on or turn it off. You can manage this setting with your Virgin Media account. Follow these steps to turn on or turn off Voicemail:
- Go to My Account
- Log in with your details
- Select Plan and Device
- Click on Manage Services
- Select Voicemail
- Turn on or turn off Voicemail
You can also contact Virgin Media on 222 to turn off Voicemail. Note that Voicemail will remain turned off until you request otherwise.
Other Virgin Media voicemail settings
Apart from putting your Voicemail on and off, you can use other options to make your Voicemail suit your preferences.
Some other settings on Virgin Media voicemail include;
Setting your Pin
Keeping your Voicemail secure means that you should use the options available. An example is the use of a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that is unique to you. Your PIN is required to access the messages in your voicemail inbox.
As a tip, ensure that you do not use obvious or easily decoded PINs like your birthdate to ensure maximum security. Follow these steps to set up your PIN:
- Dial 222 on your Virgin Media mobile
- Listen to the prompts
- Select option 3 for settings
- Follow the instructions
- Choose any PIN 4-10 characters long
With your PIN, you can access Voicemail from any device anytime. You can reset your PIN by contacting Virgin Media if you forget it.
Increase Ringing time before Voicemail
Sometimes, you can be a little slow getting to your phone. At such times, there is no need for calls to go to Voicemail. Virgin Media allows you to extend your phone ring time before Voicemail. You must type the designated code and the time you want the extension and dial.
For example, to extend my ring time by fifteen (15) seconds, I dial *61+4474583332221115#. The same code is used for the number of seconds I intend to add.
Set up a Personal Voicemail greeting
Personalize your Voicemail with recorded personal notes to your callers. Follow these steps to achieve this:
- Hold down one (1) or dial 222 on your mobile
- Listen to the prompts
- Select option 2 for Greeting
- Follow the instructions and set up your personal Greeting
